The Wadsworth Antheneum throws this chic little event every month called Art After Hours where the museum hosts music, a special lecturer and drinks/free nibbles. The first time I went I was intrigued but not overly impressed. When I heard my favorite HPSU gentlemen were hosting the bands for October’s shindig I promptly put it on my calendar. Suffice to say, the boys put on a good show. The event was held in the courtroom and it was decked with silver tables, paper lanterns and a few Picassos. Not bad.
The crowd was quite interesting as it represented a huge dichotomy between the well-to-do older crowd round Hartford and the well-dressed youth. Lucky for us, the music broke the divide.
Roman Wolf and Tanlines performed and while they were both interesting/appealing I have to say, I am a newly inducted mega-fan into the Tanlines posse. Self-described as visual/experiment/pop, Jesse and Eric put on a damn good show. What was once a stuffy, tension filled room erupted in pure movement. Perhaps it was the several strong drinks I had in me circa 7:30 PM but I remember saying, “This is the best, best dance party I have EVER been to.” Perhaps not completely true but indeed, the only time I will be able to dance with women 40 years my senior among Picassos. Not bad for a Thursday night.
